Project Life Week 1 & 2

Another new beginning for me this year is Project Life. Working at Studio Calico, you can't help but get excited about various product that comes in the door. After months of research, planning, and waivering, I jumped in January 1st and began Project Life!

I'm using an American Crafts Cloth album in Slate, Becky Higgins Design A page protectors, and of course, the Studio Calico Project Life kits as my basis for the project.

Week 1:

Forgive the bad photos. I'm trying to work on that.  We rang in the new years in our PJs watching Harry Potter. We all took a trip to IHOP New Years morning and enjoyed some family time together.

Week 2:

I received some handmade Journal Cards in the mail from Jaime Zimmerman through a Card Swap and couldn't wait to use them. The film strip one was perfect to showcase our date night to see the Hobbit! I somehow forgot to take a single picture of our evening out celebrating his birthday, so the tickets were all I had left to document with.

That's all I got today. As always, feel free to help me out with constructive criticism and ideas.

A New Beginning

I never thought I'd be one to have a blog, yet here I am! Who am I?  I'm a mom, a wife, a Christian, a worker, and a crafter.

I'm simply Amy.

I decided to start this blog as a place to post my creations in the craft world. Are they something special? Nope. I hope that this blog will be a way for me to post and keep track of my work, what I've done, how I did it, and maybe, just maybe, someone else will get some inspiration out of something I have done.

I'll start with my latest creative start. Making my own journal cards! I signed up to take part in a Project Life Card swap. As this is my first year doing a Project Life album I'd certainly never made my own cards so I'll admit I've been quite fearful of this task. I decided to use my new Silhouette Cameo and to try some things out on it. I was desperate to try out my new sketch pens as well.
I started with two designs I liked and then sized them down to work for the size of journal cards I wanted to make. The heart flourish was sized down for a 3x4 card and the polka dots/flowers I make into a 4x6 card.

I was quite astonished with how well they turned out! I see a lot of sketch pen use in my future. The next step was obviously to add some color. I have quite a few Primsa Color markers. For the flourish I went with a nice red. I have not yet mastered the art of blending, so I just did a solid fill. For the polka dots I wanted a nice combo of bold colors. I chose Violet, Yellow Chartreuse, and Light Aqua. I had intended to fully color the design in, but after a little while decided to leave quite a few of them white.

I like the outcome and can only hope that my lucky swap partner will as well.

Thank you for visiting. PLEASE feel free to critique anything you see. I would love to know ways to improve.
